You are stronger than You realize

Life, just short like that in pronunciation. I wish it was that simple in reality. Life seems to be more complex than the word itself. Life throws some crazy things our way and we have to deal with them. E.g. No one expected us to be in a global lock down with panic and less predictions of what the future looks like. Many things more than the #COVID19 Pandemic happen every day; sickness, relationship loss, unemployment, job loss, name it. You may have had bigger or smaller challenges or haven’t got any but the fact is crazy things happen in life. One of the things i have stayed with at heart as i share in my book, The Champions Mojo, is that when you train yourself to not just think about the future bleak and hardships at hand but also celebrate where you were two years or few time ago before the crisis at hand , that’s when you’re able to create happiness in the now. You realize you are stronger than you are to overcome and transcend every situation. I am not a fun of movies so much but one of my favorite movies is the “Hunger Games” ,

A Creative’s Life & Imposter Syndrome

By far, the biggest struggle every creative and artist goes through is dealing with the Impostor syndrome. You will not understand this if you never put something up that made people to marvel. Impostor syndrome  is a psychological pattern in which one doubts one’s accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as “fraud”. Have you ever felt like you don’t belong to what you have become, that it looked so big for you? Like your friends or colleagues are going to discover you’re a fraud, and you don’t actually deserve all you have made and accomplishments? These feelings are known as impostor syndrome. An estimated 90% of creatives and extraordinaire experience these impostor feelings at some point in their lives and work, Impostor syndrome affects all kinds of creatives and blaze trailers. You know how you feel when you put in effort and get a new project or a whole lot more responsibility and suddenly you feel it’s unbelievable how you got. It’s as if you have to step into someone else’s shoes every day as your own just aren’t good enough. Some call it a miracle but to the creative they see it as not real

Is Social Media Marketing Effective for Small Businesses?

Many people ask me; “Nich, Do your social media/internet engagements bring in revenues, you seem to have them as a marketing channel for all your associates?”. First things first, it works on a long term perspective. You don’t need to be too logical and needy, else you get frustrated. Secondly, you must understand the surge and waves direction of target audience. Yes, it works. In 2017. we fired all our marketers and we regret little. So, today morning while interacting with a client and friend, she said that it would be fun to be a social media manager for her restaurant/cafe business she is setting up. All that a social media manager has to do it browse social media all day and share about their business while lazying behind the computer/phone screen – She thinks. I wish it was true, but it is Not. You see there is much more than meets the eye, there is content creation (needs strategy), curation and scheduling, there is understanding of your audience consumer behaviors, there is consistency (many fail at this), etc. There is much more to do than what people think. But, the rewards are worth the efforts when doing the right thing. In

On Writing Winning Bids & Tenders

We’re all busy. It is natural in our mind programmed. That is why most professionals, job seekers and business people do not work on papers until the morning of submission deadline, this would have been ok if most business people didn’t fall into traps that cost them and their companies millions of money. For now let’s focus on bids and tenders. A bid is not an info folder to just fill and submit. Every day i meet business people who say; “We shall fill forms and submit”, ironically, they find their bids trashed and never called for a contract or pre-qualification or supplier list. A bid or proposal as you may call it is a persuasion tool that requires skill and preparation to ensure each section of it scores you the game. There is the science and psychology of winning bids. I’ve been around the bid failure block, i know, and i have been at the turn around of things and made some winning bids, so to speak. I’ve worked on hundreds of bids over the last 10 years on my other businesses and while working at NBK-Premier Solutions and other Projects i have independently worked on, due to my failure at genesis

Seeking to elevate as an entrepreneur?

For the last eight years, i have been working on projects with micro, small and Medium entrepreneurs across Africa & the Middle East, One thing stands out. Some businesses fail, other flourish. But, universally, the biggest challenge most struggling business owners face is not knowing what their biggest challenge is. Contradicting? Yes, that’s so true. Ask a a failing business owner of what the cause is and they will say; economy, bad luck, and other seemingly invalid issues. The truth is, you can’t treat what you don’t know. If you find yourself trapped between negative cash flows, stagnating sales, poor workmanship, less customer retention, etc, what do you fix first? This is a tough question to every entrepreneur. To be sick is one thing, to know the sickness is another. So, do entrepreneurs know the sickness in their business often times? As it is for sickness, that the doctor must know the sickness before treating it, same as in business, to proactively correct something in your business, you must know it first, and to know it you need solid systems in place.  Systems allow you to know and see exactly where the bend is in your business. Systems make alarms when

No crying in Business

In the “A League of their own” movie, one actor named Tom (not sure of name), makes a shout out phrase; there’s no crying in baseball!” To me it sounds like; “there’s no crying in business.” Owning and running a business can be hard, and sometimes it’s so hard that it makes you want to cry, lament or somehow break off. The most frustrating parts of running a business is trying to build a customer base, them a team of high performing employees who can be relied on, and who will help you grow your business with enthusiasm and skill. Then comes issues of compliance (tax, legal structures, licencing, etc) and cashflow balancing. Always tough. These issues can be frustrating that you want to cry, or worse, to give up. I know, i’ve been there several times trying to scale up my three startups. Most of the time, you realise that the environment have got some few gaps to fill but as a person you have ran out of fuel , you feel you can’t push more. You have lost a mojo. That appeal and spark to push more on the terrain. One thing that I have stayed with, is understanding

“Honey! pass me the soup bowl” She said

Some years back when i was at the heights of revamping my career, I invited her for dinner and my intention was to make her aware & consult from her about my decision. Basically, i had made up an immutable choice of going into purposeful entrepreneurship, performance training, authorship  and consultancy. I knew i was headed for hard times, so talking to her would mean i had a cheer voice behind, i thought, but i was wrong. I am talking of my girlfriend then. We had a dinner talk. Half way into my ambitious explanations, she looked at me  with seemingly twisted lips and a tired-like look from the other side of the table and Said:  “Honey , pass me the soup bowl, permit and favor me to enjoy my dinner please”.  Precisely, she thought i was out of my mind , she had always encouraged me to get a day job  as i keep my petty trade businesses as side hustles. To her i was daring the impossible. I thought she would believe in my dream but she didn’t,  and a month later she called it quits as i couldn’t afford her wedding before my dream took off, she
