Everyone loves the look of a rock-hard, chiseled six pack of abs — but what about the brain? Even though you can’t see it, it’s possible to give your brain a “six pack”.

How?

Learning. Reading. I’ve talked extensively about reading — books on health, wealth, love, and happiness. Classics, modern books, you name it. And if you follow the steps I’ve given you and commit time to reading, it’s just like committing to building strength in the gym — you’ll be exercising those neurons in your brain and building that six pack.

The Plague of Know-It-Alls

Everybody recognizes the guy at the gym. The one guy who’s bulky and beefed up and drinks wheatgrass juice for breakfast and tells everyone who will listen (and even those who don’t), about it. He’s throwing around weights, grunting and squatting and generally making a scene to show off how strong he is — or thinks he is.

You get these kinds of people when you learn, too. They’re the know-it-alls, the entitled people who insist that there’s only ONE way to do things and it’s THEIR way.

I’ll be the first person to admit it — despite all the reading that I do, I don’t know everything.

Far from it, in fact, which is why I keep reading. Every book, every tidbit of knowledge leads to greater and greater improvements — not just in the major categories I’ve shared with you (health, wealth, love, and happiness) but in your life as a whole.

First You Learn, Then You Earn

Too many people have that spark of ambition to go out and earn as much as they can, as fast as they can. But that’s a lot like going to the gym after spending years as a couch potato and lifting the heaviest weight set you can. You’re not going to get the results you’d hoped for and if anything, you’ll have a very poor experience and be put off from ever trying it again.

So to save you some headache, I’m going to tell you what to do:

First You Learn, Then You Earn

Some people ask me, “When will I have learned enough?” and the answer to that is “you can never learn enough.” But once you’ve learned the concept or the lesson or the routine well enough to be able to accurately and fully teach others — then you earn.

And I’m not just talking about earning money.

You earn so much more than that when you take the time to read and learn properly.

You gain new perspectives. You earn respect from your peers. You earn admiration.  And all of these can be funneled right back into continuing to learn, earn, and grow — in measures of health, happiness, wealth, and love.

And if you’ve discovered this lesson in your own life, share your experiences here. Tell me about how you’re working toward building your own “brain six pack”. What are you doing today that will benefit you tomorrow?
